Guide Rail Material

Here you can choose the material of the guide rails from the database.

Number of rails

Number of rails

Here you can determine the number of rails and it must be at least two guide rails and more than two has to be always an even number.

Rail profile properties

Profile Characteristics

It shows the following profile property values:

  • Cross sectional area,
  • Radii of gyration,
  • Geometrical moments of inertia,
  • Section moduli

And the allowable bending and buckling of the selected material.

The data is taken from the database and can be changed or updated via the separate database management. During the execution, you can choose from the following list:

  • drawn
  • planed
  • HQ

Guide Rail Finish

Distance

Guide Rail Distance

Guiding distance: Here you can enter the value of the distance of the car guides. Depending on the cabin altitude, there is a minimum value for the guide distance which indicates that it should not be less than (cab height + 100 mm). It can be set smaller, if this is possible in construction.

Mounting distance: Here you can enter the value of the fastener spacing of the guide rails in the shaft. This field is displayed in the color red when the maximum fixing distance is exceeded.

maximum possible Mounting distance: Here, the theoretical maximum value for the mounting distance of the guide rails is displayed in the shaft. This value is calculated depending on the entered loading data by the program and ist not able to changed by the system.

Options of the guide rails calculation car

Guide Rails Options

Load on the guide rails
Here you can enter, whether a calculation of the load case “Loading”, with the additional charge Q, should be accomplished or not. In the case “Catching” and “Driving” is the additional charge Q always be taken into cosideration. By selection of the the option Q on the half area, at the goods elevators, will be the load also calculated to the half area. The standard prescribes the calculation to 3/4 of the area. Here the load is calculated according to a stricter standard than standard. This option is useful for goods lifts.
If you select the option “hanging rails”, so no buckling is calculated as the rails are loaded here to tension.

Number of guide rails
Here you determine whether the number of guide rails “Catching” in the load case differs from the actual number of guide rails. For example: If the number was set to 4 in the previous dialogue guide rails, it can be in the loading case “Catching” two or four guide rails , but no more.

Flange bending of the guide rails
By selecting the above formula, the flange flextensional will be used (important for “sliding guide” because no point loading is present, as in the case “roller guide”).
If this calculation is not selected, will be calculated according to the standard.
The guide rail height and the ridge width of the flange are taken from the database selected guide rail.
The distance “a” of the force to the flange is illustrated in the drawing and can be entered.
The length of the intervention force “b” is determined by the length of the guide shoe.
Length of torque intervention: “b” is shifted from the Flanschober or bottom edge by 45 °.
By clicking on the graphic you can enlarge it.
For slide guides must be b (intervention force) always > 0 entered according to the length of the sliding shoe.
For hard rolls can be entered zero for soft rolls a value which is bigger than 0.
For the flange bending will be in the automatic mode both loading cases checked; once transferred to q x and q once transferred to y.
The worse of the two cases will be printed, regardless of the worst load case for the other voltages; i.e. the load cases for the flange bending and other loading may vary.

Extended options

You can, if desired, limit the deflection of the rails beyond the standard. Put for this purpose the check mark, if you want to use this option. Note that you can only reduce the permissible values. You also have the choice of option “Limited permissible deflection depending on amount of the rated speed”.

Results of the calculation of the guide rails

Guide Rails CalculationGuide Rails Calculation

The menu item Calculations of the guide rails will show you the results for the states Catching, Driving, the Loading and pipe breakage. At first it will always displayed the worst case.

Results of the type of load

The data shown here can not be changed by the user. It can be read the values

  • of the bending forces and bending moments,
  • the maximum deflection,
  • of buckling (ë, ù) and the total voltage.

Fields that are shown with a yellow exclamation mark, mark an exceedance of the permissible values.

Flange bending

Here you can determine whether the flange bending is taken into consideration in the calculations or not by clicking on this button. Flange bending will occur only in strong outside central or backpack-led , and even there only in conjunction with roller guides in the critical region.

Maximum occurring rail forces

This is the maximum force calculated from all load cases. These values are important, for example, for the load on the rail bracket or shaft wall. The maximum occurring rails forces will also appear in the printout. To enlarge the drawing next to the results, click on it. It opens a new window with the drawing.

Calculate the guide rails counterweight:

Proceed in the same to compute the guide rails for the car. The calculation of the guide rails counterweight only differs in the following points:

  • Load Type
  • Calculations

Type of load:

Here you are only able to choose between the type of load “Catching” and “Driving”.

There are no page choice here.

Counterweight data depth and width (frame):

Rail Counterweight Overview

The data can be here entered freely.

Lever arms:

Rail Counterweight Lever Arm

Lever arms of the force introduction of the ropes (S):

Here you can enter the lever arms of the force introduction with respect to the X-and Y-axis.
The position of the X-and Y-axis refer to the graphic.
The lever arms (S) are set centered by default to the guide rails [0,0] For the load case “Catching” is this field not possible to select. In automatic mode, these coordinates are automatically calculated by the system. In manual mode, this input is required and has to be done by yourself.

Lever arms of the the center of mass (G):

Here you can enter the lever arms of the the center of mass of the counterweight relative to the X-and Y-axis. The position of the X-and Y-axis refer to the graphic.
In automatic mode, these coordinates are automatically calculated by the system The focus will be calculated with an eccentricity arising of 5% of the width and 10% of the depth.
In manual mode, this input is required and has to be done by yourself.

Calculations:

There are only the calculation for the case of “Catch” and “Travel”.

Save the guide rail calculation:

By selecting the button Apply Button the dialog is closed and the entered values are copied into the order. A full overview of the already entered data will now be displayed. If you click on the tab “car”, guide rail results will be displayed:

Rails Results

Calcuate the guide rails

By selecting the menu item guide rail you get to the module of the guide rail inspection.

The calculation of the guide rails is divided into

  • Rails car and
  • Counterweight rails (only if counterweight is available).

Calculate the guide rails for the car

By selecting the menu item “Technical Calculations → Guide Rail → Rails car” takes you to the input screen for the calculation of guide rails for the car.

Chapter Rails car

In the input mask for the calculation of the guide rails you can have an insight via choosing between the tabs the type of load, the profile of the guide rail and the results for the calculations of guide rails. The calculation is done according to the set standard.

Types of load

Select the desired load type to be calculated by clicking on the respective register. The possible load cases are “Catch”, “Drive”, “Charged” and “Pipe Rupture” (only for hydraulics & rope hydraulics).

Possible types of load

The load case is automatically calculated for pages I to IV. If the calculations are to be displayed, the calculation module automatically determines the worst case.

Safety Gear

With a click on , all data is saved and you automatically switch to the safety-gear tool to be able to check the current values.

Note: The safety-gear tool checks whether the safety gear is still within a permissible range of ± 7.5% (of the total mass) after modernization.

Additional note: This calculation is only optional!

Then select the desired safety gear from the list (according to the respective standard). Depending on the standard and speed, different safety gears are valid. The impact factor (k1) results automatically. The value is automatically generated by the program depending on the settings for the load type and, where applicable, the safety gear and it can not be changed by the user.

Additional Charge

Attention: It applies the contact force per rail!

Additional Charge

Here you enter the additional charge for the rail. Forces from auxiliary equipment must be taken into account when these parts are attached to the guide rails, e.g. support for pulleys or speed limiter.

Note: If the additional charge set here is valid for all cases, then check the box after the input field.

Additional impact factor (k3): Here you enter the additional impact factor according to the additional load for the rail. By default we set 20%. However, this value can be changed as needed.
